Aurora Waldorf School provides a classical education, integrating rigorous academics with movement, as well as practical and artistic activities. We work with the ideals, insights and principles of Waldorf Education, acknowledging the gradual unfolding of the human being. We encourage in our students respect and reverence for the wonders of the world and their own humanity. AWS is a welcoming and inclusive learning community, cultivating respect for diversity, and supporting the growth and development of students, teachers, and the community at large.
Aurora Waldorf School is the only independent, coeducational, and non-sectarian school in the Southtowns of Buffalo. Students from over twenty cities and towns throughout Western New York come to our 13-acre campus every day to experience and enliven our programs from Parent-Toddler classes through eighth grade.
As the children in Grade 8 complete their year and move on to high school, families and friends join to celebrate this event on the last day of school. The Grade 1 class then says goodbye to the graduating Grade 8 class with a gift of roses.
Grade 8 Graduation
The school community celebrates the end of each Grade 8 Class’s journey through the grades with a ceremony open to all, which may include presentations by students and teachers. It is well attended by staff, faculty who have supported and nurtured the class, family members, friends and many younger schoolmates who have formed strong bonds with their upper school friends.
Our own Jeff Tunkey is offering the fifth (and final) session: Gym & Developmental Movement Intensive Week at AWS this summer. Parents, faculty, staff, and those interested in Waldorf education are encouraged to sign-up for this week long training. Read more on Jeff's Movement for Childhood website.
