Ways of Giving

Whether you give your time, donate materials, or make a financial donation, you are helping Aurora Waldorf School provide our students with a meaningful and engaging education. Your gifts enable our school to recruit and retain talented, dedicated teachers, support a rich Waldorf curriculum, provide tuition assistance, and maintain and enhance our campus.

There are many ways you can help us pursue our mission. The most common ways we receive support are through:

LINDA HOEG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

As our Buffalo City Initiative Scholarship* comes to an end, we are pleased to announce the creation of the Linda Hoeg Memorial Scholarship for students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color (BIPOC).

Linda Hoeg was involved in the founding of Aurora Waldorf School in the 1980s before it was even an initiative! She also served as an AWS trustee during its early years and continued on the Tuition Adjustment Committee for many years after that.

After Linda's passing, her husband, Jens Hoeg, established a scholarship in Linda's name, to support students needing tuition assistance to attend AWS. AWS's newly-formed Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is directing this scholarship aid to BIPOC students, to support the school's mission of increasing diversity in our student body.

If you are interested in contributing to this scholarship fund, simply fill out the donation form and select "Linda Hoeg Memorial Scholarship" as the donation category. Thank you!

*Buffalo City Initiative Scholarship was created in 2013 to provide eight students from Buffalo public schools free tuition throughout their education at AWS. It was made possible by generous support from anonymous donors.

MAJOR GIVING

Long-time members of our school community have come forward over the years to support Aurora Waldorf School with significant financial contributions, whose benefits we are still experiencing today.

First among these was a scholarship fund created by alumni parents Scott and Tracy Perrapato in memory of Ruth Shirley Perrapato. These funds have supported our tuition adjustment program for over ten years and made it possible for countless students, who otherwise would have been unable, to attend AWS.

We have also been fortunate to receive significant funding from the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies, sponsored by an anonymous AWS alumni family, and Rascher Mouthpieces. Support for general operating expenses is extremely appreciated since tuition covers only about half of the cost of this education.

Additionally, Aurora Waldorf School has been the grateful recipient of major funding from the Hahn Family Foundation, and in particular, additional contributions in memory of Kelly Maurer. Kelly was an alumni parent, active member of the greater Buffalo community, and former AWS trustee who worked tirelessly to promote our school. These funds have also supported our tuition adjustment program, making a hugely positive difference in the lives of scores of Western New York students.
