In keeping with Waldorf philosophy, Aurora Waldorf School maintains a collaborative, non-hierarchical governance structure, relying on the following primary groups to carry out the diverse functions of the school’s life and activity:
Faculty The Faculty -- made up of Early Childhood, Grade School, Subject, and Educational Support departments -- is responsible for carrying and implementing the pedagogical aspects of the school (teaching, curriculum development, teacher selection, mentoring and evaluation, and student admission), as well as nurturing its spiritual life through study and artistic exercise.
Aurora Leadership Circle (ALC) The ALC is a faculty committee composed of Chairs from each department of the school in addition to the Administrator. This group makes decisions on the day-to-day business of the school, with input from the respective departments, on behalf of the full Faculty.
Board of Trustees The Board of Trustees keeps the mission of the school in focus and works with the Administrator and the Aurora Leadership Circle to accomplish that mission. The Board is responsible for legal and financial oversight, including budget approval and strategic planning.
Administration The Administration ensures that the school runs smoothly, by supporting the Faculty and implementing policies and procedures. Marketing, enrollment, fundraising, billing, transportation and parent support are handled by the office staff.
